"Accident," she says, latching onto the word as soon as he says it. Though it didn't explain everything that happened to her back in Scotland, it was a close enough word that she doesn't mind using it. "It was unfortunate. I'm still really putting together bits and pieces of it."

"Yeah, disconcerting is the polite way of putting it," she says, managing a smile in spite of her fragile emotions. "In some ways, I feel like I've kind of lost part of my life I won't ever get back. It's weird."
